Barcoding mailing list

Hello everyone, I'm in need of some help. Due to the new Postal regulations and fees, I need to barcode my mailing labels to get the best & cheapest postage rate.

My problem is my mailing list is in Horacy Sychta (which doesn't barcode), and I can't transfer it out. Does anyone know a good place/format to put my mailing list in? I have someone who will re-enter the list (over 2000 names), but what program do I use? I was told Excel will do this, but I can't seem to find it/figure it out. Obviously, due to it's size, I only want to do this once. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Errin
